Naomi K. Nova
Naomi Nova, a senior associate, is experienced in the defense of cases involving complex areas of medicine, such as experimental cancer treatments and procedures, birth trauma, neurologically impaired infants, and rare diseases. Additionally, she has focused experience in the defense of dental malpractice actions, some involving claims of brain abscess and other serious neurological injuries.
Naomi is also well-versed in the drafting, preparation and argument of complex summary judgment, Frye, and Daubert motions, as well as appellate briefs. She has successfully resolved many cases at in-court and commercial mediation hearings, and directly negotiated scores of favorable settlements. She has also obtained voluntary discontinuances (i.e., with no money being exchanged) by demonstrating to plaintiffs’ attorneys the strengths of her defense theories and the absence of her clients’ liability. Naomi is a skilled legal writer, and has won numerous dismissals through motion practice.
Naomi graduated cum laude from Ithaca College in 2003, and obtained her law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2007.
From January through May, 2003, she interned in the Office of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, in Washington, D.C., where her responsibilities included attending senate hearings on issues of tort reform, national security, evacuation plans for the Indian Point Nuclear Energy Facility, research and analysis of economic development throughout upstate New York, and direct interaction with constituents to address citizen concerns in all areas of domestic and foreign policy.
Naomi is admitted to practice law in the New York State courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
