Amy G. Heath
Amy, a senior associate, defends physicians, dentists, nurses, hospitals, nursing homes, other healthcare professionals, social service agencies, non-profit entities, private companies and commercial property owners in professional and general liability actions. She is experienced in critically analyzing medical, business and financial records and legal pleadings, writing and arguing motions, handling depositions, preparing discovery demands and responses, and assisting in trial preparation. Amy also researches and meets with medical experts to obtain their opinions in standard-of-care reviews before providing critical analysis in the development of defense theories and strategy, and for the consideration of the clients, liability carriers and directors of risk management at hospitals and nursing homes. She is admitted to practice before the New York and Connecticut state courts and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Amy is responsible for coordinating discovery efforts, monitoring the compliance of opposing parties with court discovery orders, preparing motions and pursuing appropriate pre-trial remedies, such as dismissal, when opposing counsel fails to comply with discovery requirements or other obligations. She is instrumental in assuring that we obtain all of the information and discovery to which we are entitled before a case proceeds to trial, or which is necessary to effectively participate in alternative dispute resolution.
Amy has previously been associated with a large, leading Manhattan professional liability defense firm. She has also been associated with a prominent bankruptcy litigation firm, where she handled all phases of Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 corporate and personal bankruptcies from inception through distribution/liquidation, appearing frequently in the United States Bankruptcy Court.
Amy received her undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1988 and her Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University School of Law in 1991. She was a member of the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics. Prior to law school, she worked as an undergraduate intern for the Securities Fraud Unit of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
